I've only read the first chapter thus far, but I'm confident that the rest will prove amazing. His decision to begin with a stream-of-conscious narration of a preening mother and her infant was ingenious-it's the first attempt at depicting such an experience that I'm aware of, and he's executed it masterfully. It unsettled me in the same way that he argued that great fiction must in Deracination.<br /><br />By the way, he said that he expects great things from you as a novelist, and I share his sentiment.
